In the beginning of creation, the fourteen swaradhwanis or vowel sounds were created from the mouth of the God of Creation, the four-faced Brahmā (Brahma). The fourteen Manvantarādhipati (Manvantaradhipati) Manu was born out of these fourteen swaradhwanis or vowel sounds. Au varṇa (varna or letter) is the last one of these fourteen swaradhwanis or vowel sounds created by Brahmā (Brahma). Sāvarṇi (Savarni) Manu was created from this Au varṇa (varna or letter). In the Vāyu Purāṇa (Vayu Purana), these fourteen varṇas (varnas or letters) were imagined as deities. It was known that the epitome of Au varṇa (varna or letter) was manifested as Karvura Varṇa (Varna).
