Uṣtrakarṇa (Ushtrakarna) was a locality in the Vindhya Parvata region. It was also a name of local tribe of this place. In the Purāṇa (Purana), seven streams of the river Ganges were mentioned. One of these streams flowed from the Vindhya Parvata. This stream flowed through certain localities. Uṣtrakarṇa (Ushtrakarna) was one of these localities. In the book of the traveller, Al-Beruṇi (Al-Beruni), this tribe called Uṣtrakarṇa (Ushtrakarna) was mentioned.
