This encyclopaedic project is the fruit of our tireless pursuit of Indian mythology. Adjectives like ‘mammoth’, ‘gargantuan’ and ‘Brobdingnagian’ fall short of impressiveness when our project encompasses the entire scope of the Puranas, Mahabharata and Ramayana. It has taken a decade to conceptualise the project and nearly another to conduct researches and bring it to its present form. The vast range of this research project demanded collaborating hands with different kinds of expertise. So here we gathered from different disciplines – some of us hail from the sphere of Indology, some from social science, some are students of literature, whereas some are experts of IT. We may belong to different disciplines, but we walk towards a common goal, which is to add new dimensions to the study of Indian mythology. Nothing would make us, the team members of Puran Kosh, happier if we could increase your familiarity with the nooks and corners of Indian mythology a little more and present you with its essence in the simplest and most undemanding way possible.
