Andha is a nadītīrtha(a river-pilgrimage). It is a sacred river of India. Having a bath in this river yields fruits of high virtue.
Another name of this river is Āndhilā (Andhila) or Chāndan (Chandan) or Chandrāvatī (Chandravati). This river was known as Āndomatī (Andomati) to the Aryans.
The river Andha or Chandrāvatī has got assimilated with the flow of Gaṅgā (Ganga) near Champanagar in Bhagalpur.
