Aśvarathā (Aswaratha) is a river flowing across the foothill regions of the mountain Gandhamādana (Gandhamadana). The hermitage of ṛṣi (rishi; sage) Ārṣṭisena (Arshtisena)was located on the bank of this river. The Pāṇḍava (Pandava) once visited the place by this river. A kind of five-coloured flower, being carried away by the wind, used to fall into this river and enhanced its scenic beauty.
