While slaying Andhakāsura (Andhakasura), Mahādeva (Mahadeva) created innumerable Mātṛkā (Matrika; an order of lesser female divinities) from his own body, to get their assistance in killing the Asura. Unmattā (Unmatta) was one of those Mātṛkā (Matrika).
