Uraga is an ancient locality, and the inhabitants of this locality were also known as Uraga. From several śloka (verses) in various Purāṇa(s) (Purana; Mythological Scriptures), it is proved that the Uraga tribe refer to the Nāga (Naga; Snake) tribe.
