Urva was one of the kings of Kuruvaṁśa (Kuruvamsa; the Kuru dynasty)who ruled in Kaliyuga. He was the grandson of king Medhāvī, sired by Ripunjaya, son of Medhāvī. In the Bengal recension of Viṣṇupurāṇa (Vishnupurana), it is said that Nripañjaya was the son of Medhāvī belonging to the Kuru dynasty, and his son was Mṛdu (Mridu). King Mṛdu (Urva in a different reading) had a son called Tigma.
