Sage Agastya had probably traveled from Pushkar to a place in Vidarbha (comprising portions of Nagpur and Amaravati in present day Maharashtra). From the Mahābhārata (Mahabharata) and the Ṛgveda (Rigveda) we come to know that Agastya had married Lopāmudrā (Lopamudra), the daughter of the king of Vidarbha and had visited Vidarbha for that purpose. Thus it is normal to assume that another Agastya-āśrama would have its location in this region.
