A term used to define an ascetic belonging to a high order. At the last stage of a period of performing various yogic rituals, when a saint is able to restrain his breathing system and refine his body by immerses himself entirely with the oṃkāra (omkara) chant, he attains the oṃkāra assimilated imperishable state. This state is known as akṣarī (akshari).
